Ingersoll Rand Trane ISO 17025 Case Study
Earning ISO 17025 Certification
Ingersoll Rand Residential Solutions (IR RS) Engineering and Technology Laboratory is a testing lab for Trane air conditioning systems and components. However, it needed to become ISO 17025 accredited for the lab’s results to be recognized for Energy Star efficiency ratings.
After several years, Ingersoll Rand had made little internal progress in its goal for ISO 17025 certification, and a disappointing audit made the need for outside help glaringly obvious.
Ingersoll Rand chose simpleQuE for that assistance and saw an immediate impact.
“simpleQuE brought a very simplistic approach to how we were to organize and structure our quality system,” said ISO quality manager Dave Tillman. “The company provides years of experience in the area of ISO training and consulting, and is very knowledgeable and dependable.”
Dave Smith, metrologist for Ingersoll Rand agreed. “simpleQuE brought to our team the knowledge and incredible insight on the ISO requirements. Its approach allowed our team to use most of the work we had already completed and minimize the documentation to be done.”
Within a year, the Ingersoll Rand engineering lab earned its ISO 17025 accreditation. “SimpleQuE laid out a plan, and we stuck to it and met it,” said lab manager Bill Presley. “We were on target with planning and budget.”
simpleQuE also assisted Ingersoll Rand with its UL DAP compliance requirements, and continues to support the company with ongoing internal audits.
“Working with SimpleQuE allowed us to pass the accreditation audit the first time,” added Smith. “Without the company’s assistance, we would have had multiple write-ups and would have prolonged the certification by many months. I would strongly recommend SimpleQuE because it’s professional, knows its stuff and is easy to work with.”
“As we at Hexagon Metrology always strive to provide the best product and service to our customers, we are always looking to how we can improve our QMS. Your team has been a great help to us with our ISO and QMS needs, and the audits have proven to be beneficial in identifying any needed improvement, giving us the upper hand in becoming ISO 9001:2015 certified and now with our needs for ISO 17025:2017.”
