Consultant, Auditor and Trainer
Mark Crookshank is a simpleQuE consultant and automotive quality professional with more than 30 years’ experience driving quality excellence and continual improvement. For more than 16 of those years, he has conducted ISO 9001 and IATF 16949® third party audits for globally recognized registrars.
ISO/Quality/Automotive Management Systems
Mark’s experience includes developing and implementing global quality systems for design/research centers, manufacturing facilities, and support locations. His diverse background includes consulting with NASA research centers, serving as quality manager on a NASA satellite development project, and conducting hundreds of automotive and general industry quality system audits.
In addition to performing 3rd party Quality Management System assessments for a wide range of industries and markets, he also served as a Lead Consultant and coordinated efforts for NASA Langley Research Center’s ISO 9001 certification. For another registrar, Mark was a corporate liaison who drove improved customer satisfaction and built significant additional global business from strategic accounts. As an automotive Core Tools expert, he managed and mentored other assessors in the areas of APQP, PPAP, SPC, FMEA and MSA.
Mark has held positions of leadership in the quality arena which included responsibilities for the maintenance and improvement of a division wide ISO 9001 compliant business management system. Mark also oversaw the ongoing analytical assessment of all materials, certification of performance to customers, management of the ISO 9001 program and related quality assurance activities. In another role, Mark revised, streamlined and modernized the QMS, while also improving supplier monitoring activities and quality system metrics in all areas.
During his nine years at MSA – The Safety Company, Mark was responsible for maintenance and improvement of the QMS, promoting continual improvement in all business processes, along with identification and implementation of best practices. He promoted a proactive approach in all processes, including risk management and mistake-proofing implementation. As a result, Mark successfully developed a more globally and regionally focused QMS aligned with MSA’s mission and strategies.
Mark has been named a Centennial Fellow of Engineering Science and Mechanics for career achievements and recently served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Quality Council of the Manufacturer’s Alliance. He has also been a member of the George Washington University Customer Experience Advisory Council.
