Muncy Corporation – The Challenges and Solutions to Maintaining a Sustainable Quality Management System (QMS)
Muncy Corporation is a leading manufacturer of specialized fabricated assemblies for the heavy truck, specialty vehicle, and locomotive markets. They custom design, manufacture and performance test window regulators, door modules and door assemblies for more than 200 global customers.
What Was Their Challenge?
Muncy faced challenges completing their internal audits due to lack of time and resources. It was also difficult to maintain their Quality Management System and to keep their auditors trained in the standard and current with customer specific requirements because of turnover. James Geron, Quality Manager, of Muncy emphasized, “The biggest problem we had was getting people to do internal audits, because we don’t live and breathe the standard like your auditors do. It was a logistics nightmare for me and the rest of the company to get audits done.”
Finding The Right Solution
Muncy contacted simpleQuE to conduct their internal audits and develop systems to meet the requirements. SimpleQuE utilized auditors with certification body experience who not only have industry knowledge, but thoroughly know the standard.
Achieving Success
Muncy Corporation is currently ISO 9001:2015 certified. Since 2007, Muncy Corporation has had simpleQuE perform internal audits and consulting over the last 10 years to ISO 9001, ISO/TS 16949, and IATF 16949® as they have transitioned through the standards. In the end they established a sustainable quality management system that met the needs of their customers and drives improvement.
